Title: Equitable Value: Promoting Economic Mobility and Social Justice Through Postsecondary Education

Source: Postsecondary Value Commission

The Postsecondary Value Commission released a report which proposes a conceptual definition, core principles, and measures for “postsecondary value,” otherwise described as “equitable access and support to complete quality, affordable credentials that offer economic mobility and prepare them to advance racial and economic justice in our society.” The commission also asserts the need to provide equitable value to Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and Asian American and Pacific Islander students; students from low-income backgrounds; and women. The report concludes with proposed changes to policy and practice, such as:

  • Equalizing access to higher education,
  • Removing affordability as an impediment, and
  • Eliminating completion gaps and improving labor market returns.
